MIDTOWN SANTA SPEEDO RUN BENEFITS LITERACY

On December 13th , don’t miss the Midtown event that everyone will be talking about at the New Year’s party: the Santa Speedo Run benefiting Everybody Wins! Atlanta.

The Start/Finish Line will be at Hudson Grille, 942 Peachtree Street. The check-in begins at noon.

“This is a stand out holiday event for Atlanta that brings people together for a good cause,” said Ted Tuerk, event organizer. “It’s a great event to watch and even more fun to participate. The weather will be chilly, but the knowledge that you’re raising money to help kids will warm your heart.”

Racers are required to wear a Speedo ( http://www.speedousa.com ) or similar swimsuit and are encouraged to accessorize their outfits with hats, beads, and holiday accent pieces. All race participants are required to raise a minimum of$250, with an overall goal of raising 100,000 for Everybody Wins! Atlanta.

Since 1997 the organization has been devoted to improve children’s reading skills. Everybody Wins!Atlanta has a wonderful mission: ‘…to give children a greater chance for success in school and throughout life.’

In the program, Mentors meet with students once a week, reading with them and patiently helping to improve literacy skills for an entire school year.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Atlanta Santa Speedo Run,” said Jill Daly, Executive Director of Everybody Wins! Atlanta. “This is a wonderful gift, and we are excited to share it with elementary school children we help every day.”

She says the money will be used to expand the program from eleven Atlanta schools to seventeen.

Reading programs are a big part of Everybody Wins! Atlanta, and local performers are often used to tell the ‘reading skill’ story. For more information go to http//www.everybodywinsatlanta.org .

The Atlanta Santa Speedo Run has raised more than $400,000 to help Atlanta charities such as CHRIS Kids, Bert’s Big Adventure, Camp Twin Lakes, CURE Childhood Cancer and Kate’s Club.
